Groves hospital was one of 19 projects in Ontario to receive funding from Farm Credit Canada through its AgriSpirit Fund.
The $25,000 contribution is part of the $395,000 directed to Ontario projects.
“The FCC AgriSpirit Fund is an investment in rural Canada,” said FCC executive vice-president and chief operating officer Sophie Perreault,
“It’s about partnering with individuals and groups who are committing their time and energy for the purpose of bettering their communities.”
The AgriSpirit fund awards between $5,000 and $25,000 for community projects, such as hospitals and medical centres, fire and rescue equipment, playgrounds, food banks, libraries, arenas, swimming pools, recreation areas, and community centres. Nationally, 1,214 applications were received this year, which officials say demonstrates how invested rural Canadians are in their communities.
Over the past 14 years, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has supported almost 1,100 projects, an investment of more than $12 million.
